Cyprus 1980 – 500 Mils Silver Proof Coin Commemorating the 1980 Summer Olympic Games, Moscow The Cyprus 1980 500 Mils Silver Proof is a low‑mintage commemorative coin issued to honor the XXII Olympic Games in Moscow. Struck by the Royal Mint (UK) in high‑quality proof finish, it is one of Cyprus’s most recognizable modern collector coins. Issued during the politically charged 1980 Moscow Olympics, this coin represents Cyprus’s participation in global numismatic celebration despite the widespread boycott of the Games. Its low mintage and silver proof finish make it a desirable piece for collectors of Olympic, Cypriot, and modern silver commemorative coins.
