THEME

The Greece, 2020, 100 Euro Gold Proof Coin “Hermes, Mercury: Messenger of the Gods” honours Hermes—known to the Romans as Mercury—the swift and ingenious intermediary between the divine and mortal realms. Guardian of travellers, patron of trade, and guide of souls, Hermes embodies movement, intellect, and the power of connection, traversing boundaries both physical and metaphysical with effortless grace. In ancient thought, he represents not only speed, but the exchange of ideas, wealth, and meaning itself. This exceptional proof issue captures that dynamic spirit, reflecting a figure who exists in constant motion, yet remains central to order and communication. Struck in fine gold with limited mintage, the coin stands as a tribute to ingenuity, transition, and the unseen pathways that shape both commerce and destiny.
